Some people love to doodle circles. Other people doodle squares.

Actually, I think absent-minded doodling while on the phone or in meetings may be generational… do kids even do that anymore?

Me? I doodle hearts. Which is weird because I’ve never really been a girly-girl. I just like the shape. It’s not a romantic thing; I just like finding ways to make hearts fat, skinny, or off balance while keeping the shape pleasing.

So it’s no surprise that I go a little crazy each February with heart projects. It’s my season!

Heart Lollies are fat little hearts with hearty swirls inside, the perfect chance to play with color and transparency although now that I think about it, I kinda want to color these as chocolate pops next. Hmmmm.

This line art is ideal for alcohol marker, colored pencil, watercolor, or mixed media applications. Illustrated by me, Amy Shulke.
